Co. H 153rd NY Volunteers. The 1865 Town Civil War records state he was
born in Dutchess County NY son of John and Rachel O'Brien (widow
Crannel) Bentley. He was a cooper who lived in Greenfield. He enlisted
Sept. 6 1862 as a private Co. H 153 NY Infantry for 3 years at
Greenfield. Mustered in October 17 1862 with a $100 bounty paid by the
town. Discharged Oct. 17 1865 by reason of expiration of term of
service. Post-war address Greenfield Center.

was born in Vernon NY December 24 1844 son of William and Ruth Carver
Bentley. Lived in Greenfield as a farmer. Enlisted Sept. 8 1862 at
Saratoga Springs as private Co. H 153th NY Infantry for 3 years.
Mustered in October 17 1862 with a bounty of $100 paid by the town. He
died of Diptheria at Alexandria Virginia Feb. 7 1863.
