Clara is the fifth child of Henry Claydon & Ann Manks. She was born about 1859. The FreeBMD Birth Index entry for Clara has not been found According to FamilySearch.org, there is a christening reference on 6/1/1862 in Sheldon, England: [IGI].

1861 British Census, Sheldon, Warwickshire: Clara, age 2, was with her family in Sheldon[Class: RG9; Piece: 2188; Folio: 103; Page: 3; GSU roll: 542932].

1871 British Census, Solihull, Warwickshire: Clara, age 12, was with her family in Solihull [RG10; Piece: 3189; Folio: 81; Page: 14; GSU roll: 839252].

On November 26, 1879, Clara with mother Ann Claydon and siblings Herbert, Nora, Rose, Percival, and Bertie (Burlton) arrived at Castle Garden port of New York on the steamship SS Italy as steerage passengers.

In the 20 years between arrival in the USA and the 1900 US Census, Clara married and had eight children, with four surviving in 1900.
