PHILIP CLAYDON (1821-1894) & EMILY BARNES

Philip Claydon was the son of Sarah Claydon & Duncan BOYD. Philip was born around the year 1821 and baptized in Fringford on July 22, 1821 by his mother Sarah Claydon (unmarried). Sarah was the daughter of Laurence & Mary Claydon. According to parish transcripts, a Sarah Claydon was baptized on July 16, 1799, which would make her about 22 years old when Philip was born. The father is uncertain. His baptism record doesn't list a father, and his marriage certificate doesn't list a father by name. In a letter dated 1868, Philip comments that he is 47 years old, and 1868 - 47 = 1821, which is just right. On April 11, 1844 in Hendon he married Emily Barnes. A witness was Mary Claydon, probably the wife of James Claydon.
