William is another son of George & Harriet (Welch) Miller. William is noted as a nephew of Elizabeth Ann Hyde in 1851. Elizabeth was the daughter of the widow of William Miller, Leonora (Johnson) Miller and Thomas Hyde. As a young adult, William served as a house servant and lived with his aunt Elizabeth and a long-time servant of the Hydes, Sophia Baker. He then worked as an iron monger before settling down in a career as an actuary at a savings bank in Sherborne.
Based on the marriage certificate, his father is George Miller. The Sherborne Parish Transcripts don't reference a birth for William, nor a George Miller with a son named William. It is likely that William may be the son of George Miller & Harriet Welch, as his year of birth (about 1818-1819) is between George Welch Miller (1816 Southampton) and Leonora Welch Miller (1821 Southampton).
