Pg. 133: b. abt. 1367, d. 4/14/1409; m1 bef. 7/6/1383 Joan DE BEREFORD (d. sp. dau of Sir Baldwin, Knight); m2, bef 1407 to Isabel STRETELE, possibly of Stretely family of Creslow, Bucks. Roger got license to grant the manor of Somerton, OXF on 7/21/1395 to Sybil, wid. of father Thomas. At time of Roger's death, he had lands at Leisdon, Kent; Twiford; Cogges, Bekbroke, and Newynton, OXF; and at Helydon, Northants., with son Thomas, aged 1yr. his heir.

Pg. 131. Sir John GIFFARD [The Younger], of Twyford, b. 1301, d. on Sunday next after the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul (1368/9]. m1 Lucy DE MORTEYN, dau. of Sir John and sister of Master Edmund de Morteyn D.C.L.).
Sir John inherited from his maternal grandfather Sir Thomas de Gardinis large estates, manorial estates at Somerton & Fringford, and the Coggs lands in OXF, with the messuage at Leisdon, Kent came down from the Arsic family, and the manor of Ixning from the De la Haye family. His father d. abt. 1330, and he inherited the Giffard lands.

Pgs. 130-131: of Twyford, b. abt. 1270; m. Alexandra de GARDINIS, dau. of Sir Thomas of OXF, a descendant of the baronial house of Arsic. John was summoned on 6/24/1301 from Devonshire to muster at Berwick on Tweed for military service against the Scots. Was imprisoned at Aylesbury on 6/7/1314 for trespass of vert and venison in the Royal Forest. On 9/28/1315 was knight of the shire for Bucks, and 1316 certified as lord of the vills of Twyford, Charndon and Pounden in Bucks.
